Fashion, whether you’re obsessed or not, is a huge part of a person’s identity because it is an easy way to express yourself. However, it may sometimes be difficult to keep up with trends because of how fast they go in and out. Trends in fashion are what make people diverse and unique.

Looking back at fashion trends, we can see that many trends that were popular during certain eras have come back better than ever this year. The 70s were a great time for fashion–from bellbottoms to corduroy, many people are seen rocking these pieces today. The world events that occurred had a huge effect on fashion. Such as the anti-war movement with people wanting peace between countries, this movement was mostly backed by young adults wearing these trends. Pieces such as flared jeans, turtlenecks, and front tie tops, have made a huge comeback this year.

After 20 years, the clothes worn back then are still fashionable today. Mom-jeans, low-waisted jeans, tracksuits, and bright colors are from the 2000s, called “Y2K fashion,” and are making a comeback and can be seen on many teens around the world. Celebrities have always had a strong influence on fashion especially in the 2000s. Some of these celebs are Paris Hilton, Christana Aguilera, Brittney Spears and Beyonce. Even in altered forms, these trends show how fashion is a cycle.

Thrift stores are the best and most affordable place to find these trendy items because what was once looked at as a discarded item because the style had changed, is now the next person’s score because the trend has been revived. Many teens on social media have been popularizing getting clothes from thrift stores to get a “vintage” look.

As new trends continue to expand in the world of fashion, we should always remember that one day future generations will either love or hate the styles that have come and gone, and the ones that they like will surely be reinvented and reinstated. Everybody has different styles and aesthetics, and that is what makes fashion diverse and interesting.
