The Mandalorian
The era of Star Wars is back and alive. Disney has found the way to get longtime fans back on the edge of their seat as well as recruiting a whole new generation to participate in the anticipation and excitement this series offers.
The Mandalorian is a weekly series released at midnight every Friday exclusively on Disney+. Upon its release, it became the most in-demand series dethroning the highly anticipated Netflix’s original Stranger Things.
With its arrival, the Star Wars legacy saw a revival to the franchise that the last three big movies failed to produce. With call-backs to the original films and a familiar environment and storyline, Disney has tapped into a goldmine by appealing to the feeling of nostalgia that the Star Wars movies had produced up until 2005.
The leading character, played by Pedro Pascal, is adorned by the armor of his character The Mandalorian, or Mando for short. The series follows Mando, a wanted bounty hunter, as he takes on the duty of protecting and delivering a small child (which the fandom knows as Baby Yoda) back to his species. The child, however, is sought after by what seems like the entire galaxy. The two are constantly resisting attempts of capture. Despite the bleak chances of escape per episode, Mando always revives the skills to help both himself and the child remain free and continue the mission.
Season 2 premiered on October 30th, 2020. It contains a total of 8 episodes each spanning 40-50 minutes per episode. The series has provided a light at the end of a dark tunnel of the despairing and never ending 2020.
For fans, the message of hope in the Star Wars franchise inspires people to persevere. The Mandalorian is a prime example of this feeling as the main character conquers all obstacles thrown in his path. This will forever influence viewers to do the same and persevere no matter the magnitude of the situation.
Both the television series and the movie series provide hope that all fans can find comfort in.
May the Force be with you.
