Eat Your Hart Out
Hart week is the week where Canyon plays their cross-town rival, Hart High School. It is a week of fun, with each day being a new spirit day and ending the week with a rally and the football game later that night.
This year’s “IT” themed rally was hosted by Paul Sekyiappiah and Zaven Camargo Miron. The rally was hosted on Friday which coincided with the spirit day theme, Cowboy pride. To show off their school spirit, students were highly encouraged to wear their Canyon gear and all things green and gold to school, and especially while attending the rally and football game.
Starting off like always, Canyon drumline takes the field to perform, followed by color guard who danced to the song “Beggin” by Maneskin waving their beautiful flags around. Members of the Canyon choir, Teriana, Leia Cockerrel, and Jada Asis, also made an appearance to sing “Heartbreaker” by Pat Benetar.
On top of that, ASB hosts called all of Canyon’s new teachers out to come down to play a fun game of guess that song. The new teachers split into two teams, and the first to raise their hand and correctly guess the name of the song playing would get a point. The new English teacher Ms. Alfred, math teacher Ms. VanGessel, and body systems teacher Ms. Gillett took the W. Students and teachers all had fun with that game, especially when songs such as “Toxic” by Brittney Spears and “Party in the USA” by Miley Cyrus started to play.
Though rallies have to be held outdoors now, the new design hasn’t stopped ASB from doing an amazing job of hyping up the Canyon student body.
