Spring Fling
Everyone knows that one of the most memorable parts of high school is the events. From dances, to sports games, to rallies, whether people choose to go or not there is always a big buzz around them.
The upcoming winter formal that had been turned into a spring fling dance has been highly anticipated and highly critiqued among students. With concerns about mask mandates, dress codes, location, etc. everyone seems to have a lot of different opinions and expectations.
Senior, Katelyne Abalos, tells us “even though they changed it to spring fling I did expect it to stay formal attire.” Her confusion is equally shared as many people expected the extension of the traditional winter formal dance to stay formal. Her optimism shines through and continues with “formal or not I’m just happy that we can have a dance at least.”
Another issue faced was the lack of guest contracts. Many students voiced their complaints and even started a petition. Eventually, an email was sent out stating that our superintendent would allow for guests.
“I think it’s great, I was super bummed when I found out I wouldn’t be able to bring my girlfriend, but now that they’re allowing guests, it’s making me more excited,” Brian Orellana explains.
Opinions and concerns aside, dances are something the majority of the student body looks forward to. With it just around the corner, there are a lot of expectations. But, just which ones will be met?
