“Business Proposal” Review
On Feb. 28, 2022, the series “Business Proposal” was released. The film is based on the popular webtoon novel “The Office Blind Date” by HaeHwa. Because it already had an established fandom, it was guaranteed to get a lot of views. The show ended up doing great when it was released on Netflix, becoming the number one non-English show for three weeks straight.
The cast members were very well-received by the fans and were able to win people’s hearts and live up to fans’ expectations. The main actors of this show are Kim Se-Jeong as Shin Ha-ri/Shin Geom Hui and Ahn Hyo-seop as Kang Tae-moo. The show takes a great focus on their love story. Kim Se-Jeong and Ahn Hyo-seop had great chemistry on screen, which fans really enjoyed.
The other two main actors as the secondary leads are Seol In-A as Jin Young-Seo and Kim Min-kyu as Cha Sung-Hoon. Although Kim Min-Kyu was the second male lead, that did not stop him from being first in some fans’ hearts.
The premise of the show consists of the classic cold CEO trope. The author added a unique twist to this plot by having the female lead, Shin Ha-ri, take on the identity of her friend Jin Young-Seo in order to ruin her blind date. When Kang Tae-moo finds out she is not Jin Young-Seo, Shin Ha-ri lies about her identity again. This keeps the fans engaged as they see what lengths Ha-ri goes to in order to deceive President Kang. The show does a good job with not dragging out the false identity for too long while also incorporating comedic factors.
The subplot of the show follows the romance of Jin Young-Seo, Shin Ha-ris’ best friend, and Cha Sung-Hoon who is President Kang’s secretary. These two characters’ romance are nicely tied together to the main plot, making their romance very endearing and sweet. Jin Young-Seo’s fiery and outgoing personality fits the calm and collected Cha Sung-Hoon.
All in all, if you are a sucker for classic tropes without wanting the cringe moments, the TV show “Business Proposal” is perfect for you.
