“My Girl” is a coming of age romantic comedy-drama film directed by Howard Zieff. ”My Girl” came out on Nov. 27, 1991.
This story is about a young girl named Vada Sultenfuss. She is dealing with the loss of her mother and trying her best to fit in with kids her age. Everyone thinks she is weird because she lives in a funeral home with her widowed father Dan Sultenfuss.
Vada’s mom died when she was giving birth to her. Vada uses poetry as a way to help her deal with the loss of her mother. She has her best friend Thomas J, who she spends most of her days with. They go to the lake, watch movies, and ride bikes together. It was always hard for her to make friends because people would make fun of her for being friends with a boy.
The movie shows how things can happen so quickly in a blink of an eye. It’s also a very cute storyline. She has her best friend, who she loves the most in the world, and he helps her cope with her mom’s death. She feels as if she doesn’t need anyone else but him; without him, she’s lost.
I definitely recommend this movie because it has many emotions to it. There’s love, sadness, drama, comedy all in one and they portray it so well. I would say this movie is very touching for some people. The romance and connection they have is what makes this movie such a great one. If you enjoy cute little love stories and emotional films, then this movie would be a great watch for you.
