Laura Nowlin, a very popular author, has written yet another amazing book that has made bookworms go crazy. If you are on the “BookTok” side of TikTok, you probably recognize the title “If He Had Been With Me.”
“If He Had Been With Me” is a love story following the main characters, Autumn and Finn, who are childhood friends and grow together to experience one of the most complex types of love. Unfortunately, they get separated by a tragic event. This leads the book to have lots of twists and turns, which keeps you hooked all the way through.
The book starts off by giving a brief backstory, explaining how the two main characters are childhood friends who have a special bond that really cannot be broken. It explains how they navigate the ups and downs of high school together.
Autumn looks back on a car accident that took place while Finn was arguing with his at-the-time girlfriend, Sylvie. Autumn knew the argument was over her. Autumn then goes back four years to the beginning of high school; the book explores the aftermath of this event and how it affects their lives and relationship now.
