On April 1, 2011, James Wan and Leigh Wannell released their hit thriller-horror movie, “Insidious.”
Labeled one of the scariest and best horror films of the newer millennium, “Insidious” made over $53 million within the first three months of its initial release. Although “Insidious” was an amazing moneymaker for the duo, it was easily topped by its sequel, “Insidious Chapter 2,” which released a mere two years later and made over $83 million within the first three months.
These PG-13 films are amazing for nights full of thrill and terror, but they are more terrifying than you would think.
You may ask, what about this movie is so thrilling?
When the Lambert family moves into a new home, they quickly start to feel as though something is upon them. In fact, they believe there is something living with them. Things take an eerie turn when their son Dalton falls into a coma after an incident in the attic, this incident leaving Dalton in a deep sleep paralysis.
The truth is, this incident wasn’t accidental, and in just a matter of time, Dalton will no longer be just Dalton. The family now has to fight off another world and another force of species in order to restore peace in their home, but the lipstick-face demon does not make this easy for them. The question is, how do you fight off something you didn’t know existed, something you can’t explain?
A movie that will leave you with no choice but to sleep with the light on, the film “relies on old-fashioned scares and a creepy chill factor…that truly scary horror film without relying on gore, blood and the gross-out effect.”
This film is perfect for a Halloween thrill, and it fits the holiday amazingly well. It is a movie perfect for sleepovers with friends and something to get your spirit jumping. I wouldn’t recommend watching this alone, but if you insist, then be my guest.
