The cartoon show, “Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir,” is a popular kids show that has a wide audience beyond just children. The series released in 2015 currently has a total of five seasons, movies, and specials.
It is a show about the superheroes Ladybug and Cat Noir fighting Gabriel Agreste, otherwise known as the protagonist Hawkmoth. This series shows the dynamic of the protagonists Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Adrian Agreste living a double life and the love square that happens between them.
The newest special, “Miraculous World Paris: Tales of Shadybug and Claw Noir,” is a 44 minute long episode that shows a parallel world where the protagonists are evil and Hawkmoth is the hero.
The switched roles make for an interesting dynamic. The special starts off is phenomenal. The show starts off with a song narrated by the female protagonist Marinette/Ladybug, but in the special, it switches the opening song to where the hero Betterfly, who is the alternate version of Hawkmoth, is singing. This was a great choice because it sets up the stage for Gabriel being the hero.
The characters from the alternate universes meet and end up fighting each other. Eventually, Shadybug and Claw Noir have a redemption arc. Shadybug and Claw Noir manage to talk to their alternate selves and see that they are the same person and can both be happy. The superheroes fight Hawkmoth and beat him in multiple universes. After that, the other universes’ heroes return to their world to conclude the special.
This special has writing that is better than the main show. If the next season is written like this special, it would turn out great. Fans are excited to see what’s next on Ladybug and Cat Noir’s journey.
