Give it up for the Canyon Cowboys who scored their second league win. The Canyon Cowboys played the Saugus Centurions on Friday, Oct. 20 at College of the Canyons (COC).
After losing to Saugus last year, the football team was pumped to get on the field and take back their victory. The team knew that the hardest part of this game was the lack of their key players in the game due to injuries, but coaches and players were still prepared for this game. Once the game started, fans knew it was going to be a good game.
Saugus was having an eight-week losing streak, but that didn’t stop both teams from working extremely hard on the field. The game stayed close in the first half, and the Cowboys barely had a lead on the Centurions by halftime.
As the boys went into halftime, they knew they had to bring their all in the second half.
When the second half kicked off, both teams were in it to win it, but the Cowboys had it out for the Centurions. Amazingly, senior Jeremiah Taylor sealed the deal with his pick-six that was made with just five minutes left in the game. The Cowboys concluded the game with a score of 28-13.
Key players such as Taylor stepped up, as he scored three touchdowns of the game. And we can’t forget about the touchdown that was made by senior Eyezik Ruppert in the fourth quarter.
An equally big shout out must be made to our defense who also played extremely well.
Amazing job, Cowboys! Canyon is extremely proud of you.
