On April 10, 2024, after his long battle with cancer, OJ Simpson passed away. A former football player and overall controversial figure, Simpson lived to be 76 years old.
Simpson died in his home in Las Vegas while receiving medical attention. He was surrounded by people close to him, such as his friends, family, and the two children he had with Nicole Brown.
He was known for multiple things, one being his football career with the Buffalo Bills and the 49ers. Many regarded him as one of the greatest running backs of all time. However, the tragic death of Simpson’s former wife Nicole Brown as well as her friend Ryan Goldman created controversy, with people being suspicious of him in regards to her death.
The internet and many people in general are wondering: did he confess anything about the death of Nicole Brown? According to his surrounding family, the answer is no. They claim, “Unless being thirsty and asking for water is a confession … or wanting to watch the golf tournament.”
Surrounding the televised broadcasting of the trials for Nicole Brown’s death, the jury found him not guilty of murder in 1995 after a long eight-month trial. The trial is probably Simpson’s most infamous detail of his life due to the fact that this was the first broadcasted live trial, with 100 million viewers.
A couple years following the original trial, “a separate civil trial jury found him liable in 1997 for the deaths and ordered him to pay $33.5 million to relatives of Brown and Goldman.”
Shortly after Simpson’s death, his family took to social media to share the news of his passing, which, to say the least, had mixed opinions. The family stated, “On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren.”
While his life and death may be controversial, it is known that he has left an infamous mark in history.
