Student Task Force is a club here at Canyon High School. With Mr. Chris Jackson as advisor, Student Task Force is a club where students discuss human rights in the United States and how we can enforce them in day-to-day living.
During club meetings, members go over different scenarios, such as homelessness, and human rights that are violated or not upheld in various situations. Some ways they tackle these problems are by discussing possible reasons why the problem persists and possible solutions that could help improve the situation.
Student Task Force also has student leaders, who plan the meetings and speak during them. Some leaders in the Student Task Force include Senior Adiba Huq and Junior Daniela Amador.
Amador had this to say for students who are considering joining: “If students want to make a change in different communities who are struggling from human rights violations, then the Student Task Force is the best option to help out those communities.”
The Student Task Force is also a part of a larger organization named the Human Rights Watch. The Human Rights Watch investigates violations of human rights and advocates for change by exposing violations of all kinds throughout the globe.
Student Task Force advisor Mr. Jackson says, “Our club is a human rights club that educates people locally about what human rights are, and advocates that all people should have their human rights respected and followed. We learn about how to treat people equally and fairly, and advocate to make the world a better place.”
Student Task Force is a great club for any students who are passionate about changing the world or who want to learn more about human rights.
