“The Notebook,” starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams premiered May 20, 2004. The storyline of the movie revolves around a 17-year-old rich girl from Seabrook, South Carolina named Allie Hamilton meeting a mill worker, Noah Calhoun.
The two quickly fall in love, but her parents refuse to come to terms with their relationship. Noah then gets deployed to serve in WWII, thinking that their love has come to an end, while Allie meets Lon Hammond. Pursuing her love for Lon, she plans to get married, but her love for Noah is not completely gone.
When Noah comes back to town, he fixes up the house that he had promised he would do for Allie. After Allie sees the house in the newspaper, she takes a trip back to her hometown and feels as though she still has feelings for the first man she had ever loved, Noah. Realizing that their love story has not reached the end, she cuts off her engagement with Lon Hammond and sees that Noah is the man she is meant to be with.
The movie portrays the real struggles of young love but also shows the amazing side of it. I love the flow of the movie, the plot, and the actors, who are well casted. The chemistry that Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams were able to illustrate in the movie was absolutely amazing. They made their love seem so genuine and real.
Although Noah and Allie faced many challenges at times, they found their way back together in the end. If you love hopeless romance, drama, and even a bit of a good cry, this movie is an amazing watch for you.
