Girls soccer: Kicking and Running Through the Competition
Girls soccer, the sport where the girls win by kicking and running while making it look easy. The girls team has been chasing their goals as they have been fighting hard to destroy the competition in non-league, league, and now in playoffs.
The girls’ team has an overall record of 7-4-3 and a league record of 4-3-2. The girls have played hard this year, and have made the playoffs which is well deserved after all their hard work.
As the season reaches its end, it’s no surprise that goodbyes must be said to the seniors who have led the team. But the seniors have been given another chance as they have entered the playoffs and are preparing to make a run. Senior Captain Caitlyn Leao recaps this season and proudly says, “What contributed to our success the most was playing as a team and finding everyone’s strengths… I think we need to work on keeping the intensity going through the playoffs, it’s hard to have such high intensity 24/7.”
Star junior player Brooke McCormick believes that their success comes when they “play as a team and connect with each other,” but if they want to make a run in playoffs, she claims “we have to work hard together to improve our touches and finishing, and overall quality of play.”
Soccer played with everything they had this season, but with the right mindset, and the Canyon fans cheering from the stands, the girl’s soccer team is in for a great playoff run. Follow along their playoff journey as they play February 12, against Flintridge Prep in the first round. Cowboys everywhere should watch and support them as they win and reach their GOALS!
