The summer Olympics are still a few years away, but they are quickly approaching! With that being said, the official World Olympics has announced that they will be located in Los Angeles, California in 2028. Let's take a look at how Los Angeles is handling the heat.
With all this commotion coming to Los Angeles, it will be the first time since 1984 that the Olympics has last been held in the city.
There are three years left till the games finally take place. Mayor Karen Bass has already started to work on this, with many new projects, efforts to reduce homelessness, and cleaning up locations throughout Los Angeles.
The 2028 Olympics Opening Ceremony is scheduled for July 14, 2028. Here they will commence the games and welcome everyone who has come.
The Olympics are said to look different with new and returning sports. Baseball/softball, lacrosse, and cricket are coming back to the Olympics while flag football and squash are being added to the roster for the first time. Many people are excited about this and can’t wait to see what each team brings.
The official Olympics has also updated their venue plans for where the games will be held, showing that games will be played across all of Los Angeles. Some of the noteworthy venues include Dodger Stadium, the LA Memorial Coliseum, the backlot at Universal Studios Hollywood, and more.
The new generation calls for new rules. The Olympics, for the first time, will have a diversity of mixed gender teams for multiple different sports, including golf, archery, table tennis, and many other games. The Olympics tries to advocate for equality for all and hopes that by including these mixed gender teams, everyone may feel good about it.
While Los Angeles still has a lot of work to do to prepare for the Olympics, many locals are excited and cannot wait for 2028!
