As the 2025 baseball season comes to a close, the Dodgers have found themselves in the World Series. This year has been an exciting year for the Dodgers, so much so that they have made it to the MLB World Series for the second year in a row!
A player who has been highlighted throughout this season quite a bit is Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani plays two positions: pitcher and designated hitter. Throughout the season, he’s had 62 strikeouts and 55 home runs. With Ohtani’s amazing pitching and immaculate hitting, he was able to help the Dodgers not only get to the World Series but also gain popularity from fans.
Mookie Betts has also gotten a lot of attention this year with his incredible fielding and his total of 20 home runs. Although he has struggled during the World Series, Betts helped the Dodgers make it this far with his amazing hitting, good defense, speed, enthusiasm for the game, and making the sacrifices needed for the team to win.
Another notable player this season is Freddie Freeman. Freeman plays as the first baseman and has a total of 24 home runs.
These three players have definitely shone throughout this season and postseason.
The postseason game that determined the Dodgers to continue forward to the World Series was the last game they played against the Milwaukee Brewers on Oct. 17 as part of the National League Championship Series (NLCS). This game ended with the Dodgers winning from a final score of 5-1. During this game, Ohtani won the NLCS MVP and hit 3 home runs. He was also able to throw 10 strikeouts.
The Dodgers played against the Brewers for a total of four NLCS games on Oct. 13, 14, 16, and 17. On Tuesday, Oct. 14. Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitched a total of 7 strikeouts and only had 1 walk. And on Friday, Oct. 17, Ohtani pitched for the Dodgers.
Finally, the Dodgers began their World Series run against the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday. Oct. 24. Unfortunately, they had a devastating loss of 11-4. Although they lost that game, the very next day, on Oct. 25, they were able to redeem themselves and win 5-1.
On Monday, Oct. 27, the Dodgers faced the Blue Jays again and won with a final score of 6-5. They had to go through 18 innings, making this game tied for the longest game in World Series history. The game had many memorable moments, and in the end, Freddie Freeman hit the last walk-off home run, making the Dodgers victorious.
The next day, on Oct. 28, the Dodgers sadly took a loss, with the final score being 6-2. On Oct. 29, the Dodgers took another loss with the final score being 6-1.
The Dodgers are scheduled to play two more games against the Blue Jays. One on Oct. 31, and one on Nov. 1. If they are able to win these two games, they have the chance to win the World Series, so stay tuned to see if the Dodgers are able to make a comeback. Remember to root for the Dodgers as they continue through the World Series!
