With our Girls Tennis season coming to an end, many of the current senior players, which are currently about 12 players, are undoubtedly feeling a lot of sadness over having to leave their teams as they prepare to graduate. However, they ended the season with a night to remember!
On Oct. 23, 2025, the Senior Night game started at 3 p.m. Many of the senior players practiced non-stop for this night. The night was completely focused on seniors, leaving coaches, parents, and teachers alike expecting so much for them, but most importantly, to have fun.
This game was against Castaic High School, which was not an unfamiliar opponent for them, leaving the girls to give it their all with a final score of 8-10. Right before the game, the seniors were treated with a basket of goodies from coaches and families wishing them a great game. In addition, many parents came to watch the game, with many being seated with extra seats outside the courts.
Almost every week, the girls have had a game, and almost every day, they have had to practice. So, they know exactly what it takes to win. Nevertheless, many of the girls have been on the team for a while, and a moment such as this is one that they have been waiting for since they started playing, especially since they have watched past team members succeed during their Senior Night.
I briefly interviewed Dianna Solorzano, who has been on the team for four years (since freshman year). She shared some insightful words of wisdom on her expectations for Senior Night:
Q: “What does Senior Night mean to you personally?”
Solorzano: “Honestly, Senior Night to me is just representing all the seniors who made it this far and just dedicating everything to them personally.”
Q: “How does it feel knowing this is your last season playing for the team?”
Solorzano: “I feel very sad, but thankful I had the opportunity to be on the team with everyone. I feel like I was able to achieve something extra in my life, and that feels really amazing. I’m just going to miss all the fun.”
Q: “When you look back years from now, what do you hope to remember most about being part of this team?”
Solorzano: “I hope to remember all the amazing connections I made with my teammates and the amazing coaches!”
Q: “Is there anything special you planned on doing before or during Senior Night to make it more memorable?”
Solorzano: “I made sure to thank everyone for coming such a long way with me through all the hot days and long matches. Even on the days we don’t win, we still have fun!”
Even from this short interview, it is apparent that the Girls Tennis team is an extremely tight-knit group. Everyone seems to support each other in so many ways, especially our seniors. All of those practices, games, and friendships made along the way have made everything worthwhile for every girl on the team. As we always say, “Once a Cowboy, always a Cowboy!”
