The major job of missionaries is to teach people about Jesus Christ and His great commandment to love God and others. This includes making certain that their acts not only address a need but also continue after they leave the neighborhood. Many missionaries prioritize the needs of the communities they serve and blend evangelism with those priorities.

Missionaries arrive in a town to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Mormon church. The location of the person or group of missionaries affects their missionary activities (international or local communities). A missionary’s primary commitment is to God, followed by his or her church or mission organization.

Although there aren’t many people that are eager to volunteer their time to help others. Shane Wilson, a Canyon High School senior, will be one of those incredible missionaries. While he has an exciting college life ahead of him, he has decided to serve others before continuing with his profession. He opened his mission call on May 17th, 2022, and will be serving the people of Fortaleza, Brazil starting September 5th. Shane will not only be living in another country for the next two years, but he will also begin learning Portuguese.

Shane is “Feeling both extremely blessed and nervous about my mission! I am ready to love and serve the people. There is a lot of work to do and I can’t wait to help the Lord in completing it. I have a giant testimony of my savior Jesus Christ and my Father in Heaven. They have given me everything and I look forward to the opportunity to give back what I can to them. Viva La Brazil.”
He will not only grow spiritually in a number of ways, but he will also assist others in their faith and dedication to God. Shane will leave the Brazilian community with the same inner strength and love for the Lord that he has, and Brazil is lucky to have him as he can’t wait to be there.
