What are Crocs? Crocs are shoes designed to be comfortable, waterproof, lightweight, slip-resistant, and have a good grip for boaters. Crocs were originally founded in 2002 in Boulder, Colo. by Scott Seamans, Lyndon Hanson, and George Boedbecker Jr.

Crocs’ first model, the Beach, was debuted at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show in Florida. The 200 pairs that were shown all sold that day. Since then, they have sold 300 million pairs. In 2005, Crocs were tested and recommended by the U.S. Ergonomics company.

In 2006, sales for Crocs increased, and a few famous people were spotted wearing them.

George W. Bush, Michelle Obama, Kate Middleton, Prince George, and Prince William were all spotted wearing Crocs. Yet, some people found them hideous. Tim Gunn, fashion consultant said, “It looks like a plastic hoof.”

In 2010, people stopped talking about Crocs. However, in 2017, and again in 2020, around the beginning of the CoronaVirus pandemic, Crocs were being posted on social media. More people started buying Crocs, and famous people started doing collaborations with the brand. Between 2021 to 2022, Nicki Minaj, Bad Bunny, Post Malone, and SZA were some of the people that collaborated with Crocs.

In addition, during the CoronaVirus pandemic, Crocs saw the stressed and overwhelmed health care workers. They came up with an idea to give away 10,000 pairs of Crocs to the people working on the lines of the Covid-19 pandemic. Their easy-to-clean material made workers fall in love with them.

Crocs come in many different styles, colors, and designs. There are at least 30 different colors and around 16 different styles to choose from. Many people also buy jibbitz to put on their crocs, which are little buttons that come in many varieties.

Even though it took a while for Crocs to hit the market, they became successful. Overall, some people still think Crocs are hideous, but will you be the next to buy some?
