The Canyon High School Girls Soccer team’s preparation has begun. The team recently had a team bonding session in the Wellness Center where we all talked about how we can work together to play well on the field. This was the first ever team bonding experience for the incoming players.
The first practice was Sept. 11, and the teams will start having practices every Monday and Friday during the seventh period. Later on, there will be daily practices.
The team has to train together to be ready for our first game on Nov. 30. The first game will be against Saugus High School; the Varsity team will play at 3:15 p.m., JV at 5 p.m., and Frosh at 6:30 p.m. The times will vary for all teams depending on the dates.
Everyone is welcome to come and watch all soccer teams for free. Unlike the football games, there’s no entry fee for the soccer games. Because the Girls Soccer team is a winter sport, they will end the season in February. They will most likely keep practicing after the season ends because we need to stay in shape for next season. The team needs to be prepared for the more challenging teams we will be playing against this season.
According to The LA Daily News, this year in February, the Hart Girls Soccer team won the CIF against Harvard WestLake. Although Hart has a good soccer team, Canyon does as well. They have to build strength and practice a lot to put our best effort into playing against them. To gain trust, encourage, and motivate each other, they will be having team lunches and pasta parties. This provides a way that they can all hangout and talk together in order to form an unbreakable team.
