“I’m very emotional right now. This is my emo state and I like this. This is me. This is how I’m feeling as of late.”
As of late, Jimmy Butler, 34 year-old Miami Heat’s star player, surprised everyone on NBA Media Day located at Kaseya Center. On Oct. 2, Butler showed up with a straightened hair side part, painted fingernails, and piercings. This contrasted his previous appearance last year with dreadlocks. His new “emo” look will be featured in his official headshots for this upcoming basketball season.
While some fans and fellow players may be confused as to what sparked his emo phase, Butler has not provided an exact reason as to why he has turned to this new state. With the common question sparking all over social media platforms, as well the news, here are some speculations.
Butler began a conversation on Media Day discussing Miami Heat losing to the Denver Nuggets in the previous season. There is also speculation that, in all seriousness, he is upset that his friend, Damian Lillard, has been traded to the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Miami Heat, or specifically Butler, wanted to land Lillard, but that is not what occurred. Former Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard was rumored to be traded to Miami; however, the failure of the trade is what many believed caused Jimmy to become “emo.”
Many fans of the Miami Heat hope that Miami has a good upcoming season and that there is no return of “ball out boy” if they have a good season.
