Michael Jordan is a well-known legend in NBA history. He has his own shoe and clothing brand with Nike called Air Jordan, which is one of the most known across the world. He is also a six-time NBA championship winner. Everyone who follows or knows of the NBA knows Jordan’s name, who he is, and what he accomplished.
Jordan started his career as a 21-year-old rookie. He was the third overall pick in the draft for his team the Chicago Bulls, and according to nba.com, he became “the greatest basketball player of all time.” Jordan was recognized by many of the NBA greats, and notably Magic Johnson, who said, “There’s Michael Jordan and then there is the rest of us.”
However, Jordan was not always seen as a great basketball player. When he attended Laney High School, which is located in North Carolina, he was just a 5’11” skinny sophomore. In fact, nba.com says that, “he was cut from the varsity basketball team.” But, when the summer before his junior year came around, Jordan “grew to 6-foot-3 and began his path to superstardom.”
Outside of being a star on the court, Jordan was also the star in the first “Space-Jam” movie. He was also known as “Air-Jordan,” which he later made a popular shoe brand with that name. After a long career, Jordan retired in April 2003 at the age of 40. After his career as a player ended, he became an investor in sports and the owner of the Jordan name.
