Since the school year of 2022, one man has been constantly talked about and admired by the entire Journalism staff. This man’s name is Joshua Benitez (AKA Josh Benitez), born May 31, 2007.

He started out as a staff writer in Journalism in his freshman year at Canyon High School. In this year of Journalism, my personal favorite article of his was his article entitled, “The Batman” Movie review: The best and most accurate Batman film ever released.”It’s a great look at one of the best Batman movies in a good while.

In Benitez’s second year of Journalism, I think he really hit the creative peak of his career. All of his articles were very well-written and informative. If I had to pick a favorite of mine, it would maybe be his “Your Upcoming Movies for the 2023 School Year.” It served as a very good source to find out what movies were coming out over the coming months, which helped to build up anticipation for these movies.

This choice was very difficult, however, due to the many amazing articles Benitez wrote during the 2022-2023 school year; it was almost impossible to even choose a top 5. Some other recommendations I would give are his articles “All of the Major Six Flags Magic Mountain Coasters Ranked” and “The Game of the Year Awards.”

This brings us to his current year in Journalism as one of the two Editors-in-Chief. While there were not as many articles published to our website this school year as there were in past years due to the production of our print magazine, the articles Benitez has produced this year are some of my personal favorites. I think his best of this year is “A Faztastic Film.” In this article, Benitez looks at the movie “Five Nights at Freddy’s.” I think this article is very good because it is written from the perspective of a fan of the game series.

These past three years have shown Joshua’s talent when it comes to writing for The Pony Express. I look forward to his senior year at Canyon High School and the articles he will write.
