With the end of the school year approaching, lots of people are planning on traveling to new places or to hang out with friends, but Canyon’s seniors have some other things in mind. As the end of their final year of high school approaches, Canyon’s seniors have their plates full with both fun plans and preparing to move on to the next step of their lives.
For many seniors, this upcoming summer will be the most exciting, but possibly the most stressful, with this being the last summer that they’ll be technically teenagers before becoming full-fledged adults. The main focus for most students will be going to college, such as College of the Canyons (COC), CSUN, one of the Cal States, or many others. They also could be preparing to move to attend a university out of state or pursue different careers. Here are some of the plans of some seniors at Canyon:
Senior Leah Haupt says, “I am planning on going to College of the Canyons for the first two years then transferring to a university.” Same goes for Senior Nick Megerdichian: “I am planning to go to COC in the fall then go to UCLA afterwards.”
Though for some seniors, they still need to get over some obstacles before they’re able to go to college. A senior at Canyon says, “I might be going to summer school to help make some stuff up before going to COC.”
While seniors are prioritizing getting their applications in and packing up their stuff to move, some are planning to take a much needed break and travel. Senior Soren Gerasimov says, “I am going on a school planned trip to Belize during June before going to Virginia to see family. Then I plan to get a job in July before going to COC.”
With their high school journey soon coming to a close, seniors may seem overwhelmed and not fully prepared to move out and get their own place, but hopefully they will be able to rise to the challenge with support from their high school, parents, and college. Get ready, class of 2024! Your new life is about to begin!
