Have you or someone you know always wanted to try being a cheerleader, but never had the opportunity? If so, this upcoming event is right for you!
On Sept. 7, 2024, Canyon High School’s very own cheerleaders will be hosting their annual Youth Cheer Clinic in the Canyon High School gym. This event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m, with an age requirement for enrollment, ranging from pre-K to eighth grade.
For $60, future cheerleaders will receive their very own t-shirt, a cheer bow, a drawstring backpack, food and snacks, and free entry into the varsity football game at Canyon High School on Friday, Oct. 4.
Not only will they be receiving all of these cool items, they will also get to stand on one of our varsity cheerleaders’ boxes and cheer with Canyon’s cheer team for half of the football game. It is definitely an experience that you will not want to miss.
If you are wondering what goes on during this event, future cowboy cheerleaders will learn specific cheer motions such as “High V,” “Low V,” “T,” ”Broken T,” “Gold Post,” Low Gold Post,” “Right K,” and “Left K.” They will also learn a few cheers, as well as a short dance routine, which they will perform at halftime with our varsity squad! They will also learn how to do what cheerleaders do best: cheer! They will be taught how to rally, use facial expressions, and how to look like a true cheerleader.
If you are interested in this event, you can register through the link in the Canyon Cheer Instagram bio at chscanyoncheer. If looking for another method, you can go up to any Canyon Cheer member and ask them for a flier which has a QR code option.
Both varsity and JV Canyon cheerleaders will be attending the event to help, and we could not be more excited for this upcoming event!
