Within the Bridgeport plaza off Newhall Ranch Road, Makenna Koffee is easy to spot with its bright, beachy vibe.
Inside, the space is clean and small. It gets crowded during rush hours, so if you’re looking to hang out for a while, you might want to grab a table outside.
The drink menu is extensive, which I found pretty overwhelming as a first-time customer. I went for the Maui Latte, which is their signature drink made with something they call Maui Vanilla. It’s slightly sweet and smooth, with a balance of espresso and cream. It doesn’t feel heavy or overly sweet, which works well if you’re not into sugary drinks like I am. I also tried the Sandy Blonde, which had caramel and a honey drizzle. That one leaned more on the sweet side but was still drinkable without feeling too rich.
The prices are fair for the area. Most drinks fall between $5 to $7 depending on the size. The variety means you’ll probably find something that fits what you’re craving, especially if you want something quick that isn’t just coffee.
I interviewed Canyon junior Neela Batrikian on her thoughts about Makenna Koffee. When I asked her why it's her favorite coffee shop, she responded with, “Makenna Koffee is my favorite coffee shop because of how many options they have.” I proceeded to ask her what draws her back to the coffee shop, to which she said, “It draws me back every time because they have never disappointed me; every drink I've ever tried is so delicious. They also have really yummy breakfast. I like it because you can customize it to how you like it.”
Makenna Koffee is a mix between a local coffee spot and a casual food stop. If you’re nearby and want something different than the usual chain shops, it’s worth checking out.
