Taylor Swift at the VMA Awards

Aug. 28th was an exciting day for all of Taylor Swift’s fans. The VMAs were held, and Taylor Swift showed up to the awards, which was a surprise to many fans.

Swift has not made many public appearances this year, nor has she been very active on her social media accounts. While accepting an award for video of the year, she made an announcement: she would be releasing a brand new album called “Midnights.”

Later that night – at midnight of course – she confirmed the release date. The brand new album will be arriving in approximately two months on Oct. 21, 2022.

Now, this is great news; Swift has not released a new body of work since the release of “Evermore” in December of 2020.

Since “Evermore,” she has released re-recordings of her old albums “Red” and “Fearless,” along with re-recordings of two songs from her 2014 album “1989.” Fans have been waiting for her to make new content, but now, the wait is finally over.

“Midnights” will include 13 tracks, which Swift described as “the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life,” on Instagram. Pre-orders of the “Midnights” vinyl and CDs have already been made available on her website. Shortly after that, Target announced an exclusive lavender pressing of the album that will include three bonus tracks.

Swift also created a video series called “Midnight’s Mayhem With Me” on TikTok, where she will be announcing the track titles. The first video was posted on Sept. 20, and the first track to have its title announced was track 13 – “Because, of course,” Swift joked. The 13th and final track will be called “Mastermind.”

In recent news, Jack Antonoff, a longtime collaborator and producer of Swift, has been confirmed to have worked on the album with her. Swift posted a behind-the-scenes video of the making of “Midnights,” which featured footage of Antonoff. Antonoff has worked with Swift on seven of her albums, including “Folklore” and “1989,” both of which have won awards. While fans do not know exactly what to expect out of this album, they are excited for another project featuring Antonoff.

Oct. 21 is fast approaching, and fans are getting more eager to get their hands on “Midnights.” People are excited to hear what Swift has to offer with her next album.
