The Game of the Year Awards
The Game of the Year Awards is an award presented annually by The Game Awards. The award is given to a video game judged to deliver the best experience across creative and technical fields. This year, the live event took place inside the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
If you are wondering where to watch the event from the comfort of your own home, the live stream is available on YouTube via this link.
The following games are this year’s nominees for Game of the Year: “A Plague Tale: Requiem,” “Elden Ring,” “God of War Ragnarök,” “Horizon Forbidden West,” “Stray,” and
“Xenoblade Chronicles 3.”
There is no doubt that “Elden Ring” and “God of War Ragnarök” have built up a huge rivalry this past year, both of which received 10/10 from various entertainment companies such as GamesHub and IGN. The two represent different approaches to game design. They are a story of innovation versus iteration.
If you are unfamiliar with the process of the event, the first thing you can expect are the awards themselves. There are 31 categories with five nominees per category.
In addition, big reveals for upcoming games will be occurring throughout the event. In the past, the audience was shown gameplay of “Elden Ring,” and this event is no different as they show trailers for the most anticipated games of 2023.
Like previous years, musical guests will be showcasing video game soundtracks. This is a full-on celebration for gamers, so strap in for a few surprises this year.
