Mental health is something many people struggle with, and it’s something that most can relate to one way or another. Many of us cope in different ways with our mental health, but what is the best way to cope?
There are a variety of ways to cope, and one that tends to help individuals the most is as simple as going outside and taking a breath. Enjoying nature and being surrounded by life is a relaxing way to go about your day.
There are multiple steps that you can take when finding something relaxing to do in order to lower your stress and anxiety levels. Hobbies are always a good way to relax, but going outside has scientifically proven to be a great way to get serotonin (a hormone that makes you happy) flowing and having a clearer mind.
In a study it showed that “people who are more connected with nature are usually happier in life and more likely to report feeling their lives are worthwhile. Nature can generate many positive emotions, such as calmness, joy, and creativity and can facilitate concentration.”
A great way to spend your time outside is going on walks or even going camping/backpacking with friends or by yourself. This can help with not only your mental but also your physical health. Going out and exploring nature will give you a new experience. A quiet space like nature is always a quality place to go to relax and let yourself be calm while you enjoy what’s around you. We don’t always appreciate the nature around us, but putting time aside for it will show you what it really has to offer.
When struggling with anxiety and depression, nature is always there to offer an enjoyable time and a place to relax and let yourself slip away into the beauty of it all.
