Every year, as Halloween approaches, people begin deciding what to dress up as. There are always the usual suspects, such as vampires, witches, and cowboys; however, every year, movies or other popular culture events cause the popularization of certain costumes.
To see which costumes will be most popular this year, we have to look at what has happened since last October, primarily in the world of movies.
The first movie that comes to mind is the recent “Deadpool and Wolverine” movie, which was released on July 26, 2024. This movie has two main characters who have instantly recognizable outfits which would make for an excellent costume for a duo.
As usual, people will be dressed up as horror icons such as Michael Myers or Jason Voorhees; however, there are some new faces in horror that we are going to see trick or treating this year. The two that will be seen this year are Freddy Fazbear, as well as other characters from the “Five Nights at Freddy’s” (FNAF) franchise, and Art the Clown from the more recent “Terrifier” movies.
Another very recent release was the long-awaited sequel to Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice,” entitled “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.” I predict that this movie will have us seeing a lot of people in Beetlejuice’s iconic black and white striped outfit.
Lastly, an unconventional costume that could be used this year is the Skibidi Toilet from the new YouTube series “Skibidi Toilet.” It has a very iconic look, which is also easy to recreate effectively. The show also has various other characters that could serve as inspiration, such as the TV men and the cameramen.
