Luke Combs is a famous country singer who is best known for his song “She Got the Best of Me.” Many people know him for his music, but not many know what got him started in the music industry and his backstory.
Combs was born on March 2, 1990 in Huntersville, North Carolina and “was raised about two hours away in Asheville. His parents, Chester Lee and Rhonda Combs both worked full-time jobs—his father as a maintenance worker, and his mother at a bank—and instilled a strong work ethic in their only child.”
Combs first started his singing journey in a chorus class in the sixth grade, and later on, he performed in his church choir and some school musicals.
“Singing was second nature to me,” he explained in an interview with Sony Music. “I put a lot of hard work into it, but I always just enjoyed the heck out of it.” The choir even sang at Carnegie Hall, and Combs was chosen for a solo.
His love of music pushed him to pursue singing professionally, and he eventually released his first song “I Know She Ain’t Ready” in 2014.
Shortly after its release, Combs went to a songwriter’s festival in 2016 where he ended up meeting his now wife, Nicole Hocking. They met as he was performing and she was working for the company that was hosting the occasion. Although the couple keeps their family very private, they have two kids together, a two-year-old named Tex and 15-month-old named Beau.
Since 2014, Combs has grown in popularity and released five studio albums, four extended plays, and 18 singles. He is currently on tour and is set to perform in Belfast, United Kingdom on Dec. 13, 2024. The tour will wrap up on Feb. 14, 2024 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
While many may know Luke Combs as an esteemed singer, his journey started from the ground up. He has evolved and changed over the years, growing to be what he is today.
