Finals week, the final week of the semester, is known for being stressful and anxiety-inducing for many students. Facing the pressure of performing well on exams can be overwhelming and draining. However, there are always methods to deal with this stress, feel better, and overall be much more prepared for the week ahead!
One of the biggest obstacles during finals week is the constant anxiety lingering within, whether it’s worrying about failing, forgetting class concepts, or the general feeling of unease. The best approach to these issues is to break everything down into more manageable pieces. Divide your time into different subjects as necessary, and remember to give yourself breaks when you feel you need them! By organizing your time around certain subjects and materials, you’ll feel less overwhelmed and avoid burnout.
If you’re still feeling tense or unprepared for the week, don't hesitate to utilize accessible resources. Tutoring, study groups, or available practice tests are all helpful ways to support your studies and bring the guidance you may need. The Wellness Center is a great place to ease out the tension in your body, and the library at Canyon is a calming environment for study groups! Don't be afraid to reach out and ask for help; it could be the staircase to your success.
As important as it is to study and prepare, self-care is just as valuable. Getting enough sleep, eating well, and taking breaks all count towards your self-care and ensure that you’re physically and mentally strong enough to ace your tests. You cannot perform well if your body is not well, so take care of yourself!
Mind over matter is the concept of overcoming challenges with your mindset. You can do as much as you believe you can do. You cannot perform at your max if you do not believe you can. Getting over anxiety, using resources, and taking care of yourself are all ways to fuel a positive mindset and create the thought of thriving in such a demanding week.
