This year’s Senior Sunset was golden. It was a few surreal hours of just getting lost in a good time while also cementing the fact that graduation is nearly here.
This special senior event took place on May 12, and check-in began at 6 pm. Unlike Senior Sunrise, Senior Sunset required students to purchase tickets due to the activities and food involved. Ticket prices were $40 for students without an ASB Card, and $35 for students with a card.
The school provided a taco truck with the choice between nachos and a few taco flavors to eat from. While some people had mixed feelings on the food, from what I heard, the overall consensus was that students enjoyed it. Cupcakes, cookies, and agua frescas were also included in the catering, allowing students to have some delicious treats while celebrating with their friends.
Senior Sunset also had tables set up for students to pick up their yearbook. One of the best parts of the event was just bonding while everyone flipped through the pages and exchanged books to write heartfelt messages.
The various activities to enjoy throughout the night also helped make the experience memorable. On the main football field, there were beach balls, footballs, and a DJ. However, the most exciting activity was the inflated jumpers and obstacle courses. Racing against friends was both tiring and thrilling.
Senior Brianna Dantzler loved the event and stated, “Senior Sunset was really fun. It was one of my best senior activities so far. I really loved hanging out with my friends from Varsity Boys Basketball and classmates.”
Friends are truly what made Senior Sunset special. It was a cumulation of the relationships built over these past four years or longer that gave seniors the chance to come together, reminisce on their time at Canyon, and dream about the future.
