Here at Canyon High School, we have many teachers and staff that deserve to be spotlighted for their hard work and dedication to our school and student population. However, one teacher in particular stands out above the rest: Michael Morgan.
Known by students on campus as Mr. Morgan, not only is he an Algebra 2 teacher, he is also the head coach of Boys and Girls Tennis. Additionally, he is the co-athletic director, where he is in charge of tennis, basketball, volleyball, swim and dive, and golf. So, you are bound to see him around campus at some point!
As you can tell, Mr. Morgan enjoys working in sports and supporting athletes. When asked why he wanted to be a teacher on top of being involved with sports, Mr. Morgan explained, “I want to help students become better at math. I enjoy being witness to the rewards of hard work.”
Clearly, Mr. Morgan is an inspiration and a person to look up to, as he shows up everyday for his students and athletes.
After having Mr. Morgan as my head tennis coach, I can say firsthand that he is all he is described as and more. While most people know him as a funny and silly guy, I know him as someone who exudes a go-getter attitude.
No matter the situation, on the courts or off, I can always rely on him to help us put our best foot forward. Whether it's preparing us for matches, or just being someone we can talk to, he is always there for whatever we may need.
Senior Joey Gray, one of Mr. Morgan’s former math students stated, “I admire his ability to bond with his students, or really anyone he talks to. He is compassionate and all-around just a good guy.”
It is evident that Mr. Morgan has touched the lives of many different people around campus. He continues to be an example of what it means to be a hard worker and caring person. And, if you’re worried about not getting the chance to have this amazing teacher, don't fear! Mr. Morgan plans to stay at Canyon as long as he can!
