Hopeless by Colleen Hoover

Famous author, Colleen Hoover, wrote yet another book that was both jaw dropping and amazing. If you have ever been on the ‘Book Tok’ side of TikTok, you will recognize the name Colleen Hoover. After reading her famous book “It Ends With Us,” I was instantly excited to read another book by her.

“Hopeless” is a novel that is filled with many twists and turns. The main protagonist, Sky, is a 17-year-old girl who is about to start her first day of senior year. However, it is her first day of actual school ever, because her mom, Karen, has always been crazy over-protective of her. She’s an odd teenager who’s never had any form of a real social life, or any social media either. Right before school starts, she has a very interesting interaction at her local grocery store. She gets a glimpse of Dean Holder, the bad boy who every girl drools over, and he is weirdly attracted to Sky. She was scared yet pulled in by him all at the same time.

Sky thought that her first day was going to be perfect, until her best friend, Six, breaks the news that she is leaving for another country. This only brings more fear for her on the first day of school.

Both Sky and Dean have many interactions, and their chemistry and connection with each other grows stronger. But little does Sky know that Holder has distant memories with her, and there is a lot more to his background than she knows.

As the story continues, Holder helps Sky learn more about her past, and untangles why the two lovers’ connection is so familiar and strong.

This book left me with my jaw on the floor. I loved how unpredictable the book was and how Hoover put so much detail into the book that made it so easy to picture every scene.

The way Hoover kept digging and digging at Sky’s past, explaining her whole story that she was unaware about and how she was connected to Holder was mind blowing. The creativity that was put into this book made it a very unique, quick, and easy read.

I’ve read many Colleen Hoover books, but this one is definitely in my top three books that she has written. I would give this book a solid 4.5/5 because at first the book was a little tough to get into, but once the book picked up, I couldn’t put it down.

If you love mystery and romance stories, I would definitely recommend “Hopeless” and the rest of the series: “Losing Hope,” “Finding Cinderella,” and “Finding Perfect.”
