On Feb. 6, 2026, Canyon’s Associated Student Body (ASB) brought the iconic “Teen Beach Movie” to life with lively decor for their annual talent rally!
Each year, ASB’s Executive Board selects a small group of talented students to showcase their skills for the student body during the rally at brunch. The talent on campus only seems to be getting better every year, leaving every student impatiently waiting for the next rally.
Straight off the bat, students were invited into the gym where incredible music that perfectly matched the theme was playing.
The opening number was performed by the incredible Canyon Cheer team, who showed off their creative bikers vs. surfers themed routine! Throughout their routine, they demonstrated their astonishing skills, ending off strong with a song straight from the movie “Surf’s Up.”
Following Cheer’s performance, Isabelle Hefner blew the crowd away with her intricate Tahitian dance. She performed with such grace and poise that it was no surprise that everyone was amazed throughout the entirety of her performance.
Spring sports then made their grand entrance, hyping up the crowds as each team came out. After their shining moment, each sport selected two members to play a unique ASB game: wig snatching.
Kirra Clark, a sophomore at Canyon said, “The moment they pulled out the wigs, I was very skeptical of what was about to happen, but once the game started, it was super silly and entertaining.”
Following the whimsical game was Sharlize Amescua’s angelic voice singing “Smooth Operator” by Sade.
Straight after, Canyon’s Folklórico Club made their first appearance in front of the student body. Lucia Velasquez, Valeria Zavalza, Kelly Gonzalez, Leah Ruiz Pedraza, Maria Coronel, and Angela Nunez showed off their impeccable dance moves, moving their skirts around in perfect synchronization as Alfredo Reveles sang “Canción del Mariachi” by Antonio Banderas.
The Canyon Dance team kept the energy up with their fast-paced choreography and incredible facial expressions. From the moment they stepped into the center of the gym to when they strutted off, they did not let the energy waver for a moment.
To close off this special event, staff members were crusin’ for a bruisin’ in a game of musical chairs. Never would I have imagined such an intense game of musical chairs was possible, but they exceeded every expectation.
Each session roared with chants to motivate their beloved teacher to win—each cheer got louder as the group of teachers slowly got smaller.
Out of all the sections, the bikers (upperclassmen) demolished the surfers (underclassmen) in spirit this year—as per usual. We hope to see everybody just as exhilarated at our final rally of the year!
